The importance of sanding is often overlooked; it is clearly the most tedious part of furniture making, and certainly the messiest. However, well-sanded wood, particularly character wood, develops a surface that is unique among natural materials. Through extensive sanding, it takes on the warmth of old leather, the luminescence of gemstones, and a readable story of its life as a tree.
